SWITCHFOOT, SALVADOR, AND JACI VELASQUEZ ADDED TO THE LINE-UP FOR SPIRIT FEST ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10 AT WHATABURGER FIELD
(Corpus Christi, TX.) SPIRIT FEST, the largest family friendly festival in South Texas, is making its debut in Corpus Christi Veterans Day weekend – Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Whataburger Field. Just added to an already spectacular line-up for Spirit Fest is Grammy Award and Dove Award winners Switchfoot. Joining Switchfoot on the main stage will be Salvador and Jaci Velasquez for a show that already features, Grammy-nominated and Dove Award winning artists MercyMe, Jeremy Camp and David Crowder. SPIRIT FEST Corpus Christi 2012 will showcase a full day of music on two stages and activities geared toward the whole family. SPIRIT FEST is offering a day full of Fun, Family, Faith & Freedom. Switchfoot is from San Diego, California. They first gained mainstream recognition with the inclusion of four of their songs in the 2002 movie, A Walk to Remember. This recognition led to their major label debut, The Beautiful Letdown, which was released in 2003. It went on to sell over 2.6 million copies. They have since been noted for their energetic live shows, and their seventh studio album Hello Hurricane received a Grammy award in 2011 for Best Rock Gospel Album. They recently received Rock Album of the year “Vice Verses” & Rock Recorded Song of the year “Dark Horses”. MercyMe is an American Christian rock band founded in Greenville, Texas. The group first gained mainstream recognition with the crossover single, "I Can Only Imagine" which elevated their debut album, Almost There, to double platinum certification. Since then, the group has released six additional studio albums (four of which have been certified gold) and a greatest hits album. The group has also had 13 consecutive top 5 singles on the Billboard Christian Songs chart, with 7 of them reaching no. 1. MercyMe has won 8 Dove Awards and has had numerous Grammy Award nominations. Jeremy Camp has sold three million records, charted nineteen No. 1 hits, was nominated for a GRAMMY, and has won several major Dove Awards. Not in any self-deprecating way, but in that positive spiritual sense to which we should all aspire. You can hear him working this out on his sixth recording, We Cry Out: The Worship Project. David Crowder is a Texas original , 9 time Dove award winner and Grammy award nominee! David Crowder Band has always stood separate from that pack of modern worship groups due to its eclecticism. For over a decade, David Crowder created some of the most creatively inspired worship music in the world. “Give Us Rest” is the title of his latest album, earning them a number two spot on Billboard’s Top 200. Salvador has toured extensively since exploding onto the main stage in Christian music in 2000 with their unique blend of soulful music with a Latin influence, underscored by dynamic stage performances. Jaci Velasquezis an American Contemporary Christian and Latin pop singer from Houston, TX - in both English and Spanish languages. Velasquez has sold almost five million albums around the world, recorded three Platinum and three Gold albums, and recorded 16 singles that hit No. 1 plus six more that hit the top-10. She has received seven Dove Awards including Best New Artist and Female Vocalist of the Year.
